Hearing on SHARE Act to Deregulate Gun Silencers and Armor Piercing Bullets Sept 12 2017

On Sept. 12, 2017, the Natural Resources Committee held a hearing on the SHARE Act by Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.), which deregulates gun silencers and makes it harder to regulate armor-piercing bullets, among other harmful measures. The bill was supposed to be about helping sportsmen access public lands. The hearing featured testimony by 25-year ATF veteran David Chipman that these kinds of giveaways to the National Rifle Association hurt public safety and bring no public benefit, although they may increase sales for gun and silencer manufacturers.
