Grijalva Letter to EPA on Contaminated Water Discharge at Biscayne Bay Nuclear Plant March 11 2016
A March 11, 2016, letter from Ranking Member Grijalva to EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy expressing concern about the discharge of hypersaline (extremely salty) water at a nuclear plant in Biscayne Bay on the South Florida coast. Grijalva highlighted this issue again in a March 7, 2017, letter to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Army Corps of Engineers pushing for more information about their assessment that building two new plants in the same location was safe despite being in Hurricane Alley and despite the agencies' lack of climate change risk assessment.
