NRDems Forum: Round Table on Economic Benefits of the Land & Water Conservation Fund
The Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) has been one of the most widely supported and successful conservation programs in our nation’s history. LWCF has tremendous economic benefits and return on investment for the country. Hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, paddling, and other outdoor recreation activities, all supported by LWCF, contribute a total of $887 billion annually to the economy and studies show that each dollar spent on LWCF has the potential to generate twice that amount in economic activity.
To highlight what’s a stake with the program set to expire on September 30, Ranking Member Grijalva and committee Democrats will convene a Forum to discuss the economic benefits of LWCF with industry CEO’s that will be live-streamed.
Participants:
Committee staff will encourage all Democratic members of the committee to participate in the forum. Invited witnesses are to be determined, but may include:
Timothy Boyle – CEO, Columbia Sporstwear (Portland, OR)
Steven Rendle – CEO, VF Corporation
Kevin Plank – CEO, Under Armour (Baltimore, MD)
Tom Barney – CEO, Osprey Packs (Cortez, CO)
Todd Spaletto – CEO, North Face (Alameda, CA)
Jerry Stritzke – CEO, REI (Kent, WA)
