Time: 10:00 AM Location: Longworth House Office Building 1334
LEGISLATIVE HEARING ON:
H.R. 3400 (Rep. Rob Bishop), To promote innovative approaches to outdoor recreation on Federal land and to open up opportunities for collaboration with non-Federal partners, and for other purposes. "Recreation Not Red-Tape Act"
DEMOCRATIC TOPLINE MESSAGES:
This is the first hearing in the 115th Congress to deal exclusively with recreation on public lands.
Recreation is an important use of public land. Overall, outdoor recreation supports $887 billion in annual consumer spending and approximately 7.6 million jobs.
Congress should find opportunities to enhance recreational opportunities and improve the administration of related permits and passes; however, efforts to increase or prioritize recreation need to be balanced with conservation and stewardship.
