The full Committee, led by Chair Raúl M. Grijalva (D-Ariz.), will hold a markup of the bills listed below.

The Committee held a hearing on a discussion draft of Grijalva’s Insular Area Climate Change Act on March 4, and he introduced the final version of the bill on April 22. Grijalva introduced the Ocean-Based Climate Solutions Act on June 8 in honor of World Oceans Day, and the Committee held a hearing on the bill on June 22. Grijalva published a piece with Grist on July 2 discussing the public process behind the ocean bill’s formulation and how it improves national climate policy.

Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations

The Subcommittee, led by Chair Katie Porter (D-Calif.), will hold an oversight hearing titled Are Toxic Chemicals From Tires And Playground Surfaces Killing Endangered Salmon? The hearing will focus on mounting scientific evidence that chemicals found in car tires, artificial playground surfaces and other common sources are destroying populations of endangered salmon in the Pacific Northwest. Members will discuss how best to protect impacted endangered species in light of these findings.
