Livestreams This Week: Law Enforcement Body Camera Policies on Tuesday, Markup on Wednesday, Environmental Justice Hearing on Thursday

Washington, D.C. – The Natural Resources Committee is holding three livestreamed events this week.

Tuesday, Sept. 29

On Tuesday, the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, led by Chair TJ Cox (D-Calif.), will hold a hearing titled Police Cameras at the Department of the Interior: Inconsistencies, Failures, and Consequences. The event will look at excessive use of force and the use of cameras by federal law enforcement agents under the Department of the Interior, including the fatal 2017 U.S. Park Police shooting of Bijan Ghaisar.

Tuesday’s witnesses include:

Thursday, Oct. 1

On Thursday, the Committee will hold a legislative hearing led by Chair Raúl M. Grijalva (D-Ariz.) on the Environmental Justice for All Act, his landmark bill with Rep. A. Donald McEachin (D-Va.) and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) to strengthen environmental justice principles in the National Environmental Policy Act and other federal laws. The legislative hearing will be the first for the bill, major portions of which are included in the recently passed House energy package.

Thursday’s witnesses include:

  • Dr. Robert Bullard, Professor of Urban Planning and Environmental Policy, Texas Southern University
  • Dr. Mildred McLain, Co-founder and Executive Director, Harambee House/Citizens for Environmental Justice

The minority has not yet identified a witness for this hearing.
