March 12 Subcommittee Hearings Announced – Morning Will Focus on BLM, Forest Service, Power Agencies; Afternoon Will Focus on Wildlife
Washington, D.C. – The Committee will hold two hearings on Tuesday, March 12. The Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources hearing at 10:00 a.m. Eastern time is titled Examining the Policies and Priorities of the Bureau of Land Management, the United States Forest Service, and the Power Marketing Administrations. The Subcommittee on Water, Oceans, and Wildlife hearing at 2:00 p.m. Eastern time is titled The State of Wildlife.
Witnesses at the 10:00 a.m. hearing will discuss the Trump administration’s environmental rollbacks and prioritization of fossil fuel extraction on public lands. Democrats will focus on the gutting of methane and fracking regulations, the rollback of Obama-era land use planning standards, and the opening of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil and gas development, among other issues – marking the first time since Trump took office where the House of Representatives will scrutinize the impacts of the “energy dominance” agenda.
Witnesses at the 2:00 p.m. hearing will speak to the Trump administration’s record on endangered species protections and whether Trump’s “energy dominance” agenda has complied with applicable wildlife laws.
Full witness lists are available below. As with all hearings, both events are open to media and the public.
