Natural Resources Committee Hosting Livestream Discussion on May 5 on Trump Admin’s Pandemic-Era Regulatory Rollbacks and Fossil Fuel Agenda
Washington, D.C. – The House Natural Resources Committee is hosting a livestreamed roundtable on Tuesday, May 5, at 1:00 p.m. Eastern time on the Trump administration’s push to deregulate the fossil fuel industry and other heavy polluters during the COVID-19 pandemic. The event will focus on the lack of public input on major regulatory decisions and the impacts of the administration’s push to cut deals for its political allies while public scrutiny is severely limited.
The event is the fourth in an ongoing series of livestreamed forums and roundtables the Committee is hosting on coronavirus impacts on at-risk populations. Previous events focused on the failed federal response in Indian Country; the need for additional assistance and sustained relief in environmental justice communities and low income communities; and the still unmet needs of residents in Puerto Rico and other U.S. territories weeks after the initial outbreak was announced.
