Wednesday Hearing Will Examine Energy Extraction, Transparency, and Enforcement Policies at DOI Offshore Energy Agencies

Washington, D.C. – The Energy and Mineral Resources Subcommittee will hold a March 6 hearing titled Examining the Policies and Priorities of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, and the U.S. Geological Survey. Witnesses at the hearing will speak to how federal agencies are implementing the Trump administration’s industry dominance fossil fuel agenda and whether Trump officials are operating transparently and independently of inappropriate industry influence.

  • Dr. Walter Cruickshank, Acting Director, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management

Dr. Cruickshank is deputy director and acting director of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, overseeing all aspects of the agency’s conventional and renewable energy programs and its work on offshore oil and gas leasing, environmental analysis, National Environmental Policy Act assessments, resource evaluation, and economic projections.

  • Mr. Doug Morris, Chief, Office of Offshore Regulatory Programs, Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE)

Mr. Morris oversees BSEE’s regulatory, risk analysis, technology evaluation, safety, offshore operations, and guidelines development efforts. He was previously director of the Reserves and Production Division of the Energy Information Administration and a member of the American Petroleum Institute's executive staff.
