Witnesses Announced for 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Climate Change Hearings Next Tuesday – Committee Schedule Will Proceed as Previously Announced

Washington, D.C. – Witnesses have been announced for next Tuesday’s subcommittee hearings on climate change.

Brandon Dennison and Peter Hille will speak about community economic development and economic diversification in Appalachia. They will highlight features of a just economic transition that creates new jobs and makes Appalachia an attractive place to live, work, and raise a family.

Sarah Shrader started an outdoor recreation company, Bonsai Design, in Grand Junction, Colo., in 2005 that designs and builds zipline and aerial adventure courses and offers outdoor adventure trainings. The company employs more than 40 people and is helping expand the outdoor recreation economy in western Colorado – a region that has historically experienced the boom-bust cycles of the fossil fuel industry.

On Jan. 24, the governor of West Virginia announced $11 million in renovations to Pipestem Resort Park (a state park) geared toward helping the state’s growing tourism industry. Bonsai Design won the contract to design and build the zip line course at Pipestem.
