Natural Resources Ranking Member Grijalva Statement on President Obama’s Veto of the Bill to Force Keystone XL Approval

Washington, D.C. – House Natural Resources Committee Ranking Member Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva (D-Ariz.) released the following statement today on President Obama’s veto of the bill to force approval of the Keystone XL pipeline.

“President Obama was right to veto this bill, and unfortunately he may need to keep his pen handy. Any energy package Congress sends him this year will do more for the fossil fuel industry than for the average American or the environment. Many oil companies, even after years of spills and environmental failures, keep demanding greater access to public resources. Turning their wish list into a national energy policy would be a serious mistake, and I hope the president shows as much foresight in that debate as he showed today.”
