Ranking Member Grijalva Cheers Appointment of Laura Daniel-Davis as Interior’s Acting Deputy Secretary

Washington, D.C. – House Natural Resources Committee Ranking Member Raúl M. Grijalva (D-Ariz.) today issued the following statement on the U.S. Department of the Interior’s announcement that Laura Daniel-Davis will serve as acting deputy secretary.

“The Interior Department is facing challenging new opportunities with record-breaking visitation at our national parks and public lands, historic investments in climate action and our clean energy future through the Inflation Reduction Act, and a new era of strengthening our engagement with Indian Country. The Department needs strong, trusted leadership to meet this charge, and there’s no question that Ms. Daniel-Davis is the person for the job. She has proven to be a steadfast champion for our public lands, waters, and wildlife, an experienced and dedicated public servant, and a leader in the fight for equitable and just climate action. I commend President Biden and Secretary Haaland for this appointment and look forward to working with her in this new role.”
