Ranking Member Grijalva Welcomes Outcome for Montana Youth in Climate Case

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Natural Resources Committee Ranking Member Raúl M. Grijalva (D-Ariz.) today welcomed the ruling in favor of Montana youth challenging harmful fossil fuel policies that threaten the health and safety of Montana residents.

“Montana youth prevailed against overwhelming odds to strike down a law barring state regulators from considering the climate change impacts of fossil fuel projects, in violation of the constitutional right to clean air and a healthy environment. This case is a landmark decision that will help ensure that climate change is considered and reaffirms the right to a safe and healthy environment for present and future generations. These young people have shown that we must continue to work together to take bold action to address the climate crisis and that with their leadership the future is bright.”
