NEXT WEEK: Hearings on Uranium Mining, Chronic Wasting Disease, Tribal Water Rights; Markup on Public Lands Maintenance, Other Business

Washington, D.C. – The Committee on Natural Resources is holding a markup next Wednesday, June 26, at 10:00 a.m. Eastern time on a two bills, including Ranking Member Rob Bishop’s (R-Utah) bipartisan Restore Our Parks and Public Lands Act.

The Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources will hold a hearing on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. Eastern time titled Uranium Mining: Contamination and Criticality to discuss Chair Raúl M. Grijalva’s (D-Ariz.) H.R. 3405, which removes uranium from the federal “critical minerals list” – where the National Academy of Sciences and other leading scientific entities do not believe it belongs.

The Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will hold a hearing on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. Eastern titled Chronic Wasting Disease: The Threats to Wildlife, Public Lands, Hunting, and Health. The issue was recently profiled in the Washington Post and has become a leading concern for hunters across the United States concerned about the spread of an increasingly prevalent and untreatable disease among deer, elk and other cervids.

The Subcommittee on Water, Oceans, and Wildlife will hold a hearing on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. Eastern time to consider several pieces of tribal water settlement legislation.
