On Inflation Reduction Act Anniversary, Grijalva Celebrates Committee Democrats’ Climate Wins, Highlights New Microsite & Map

Washington, D.C. – Today, on the second anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), U.S. House Natural Resources Committee Ranking Member Raúl M. Grijalva (D-Ariz.) released the following statement celebrating the historic climate wins that Committee Democrats secured in the IRA, as well as the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).

“Two years ago, the Inflation Reduction Act made history by being the largest ever investment in climate and clean energy. Today, the Biden-Harris administration is putting those investments to work by building out a future that is cleaner, safer, and more affordable, all while creating good-paying jobs and strengthening communities’ resilience to climate change. I’m especially proud of Natural Resources Democrats’ climate wins in both the IRA and Infrastructure Law, which are helping to restore coastlines, secure clean water for the West, strengthen our response to wildfire, support Indigenous communities, and clean up abandoned mines and wells, among other initiatives.

“Even my Republican colleagues — not one of which voted for the IRA — seem to be overjoyed at the influx of investments their districts are receiving. Yet rather than seize the momentum, they continue to push a backwards pro-polluter agenda as they lay the groundwork for Trump’s Project 2025. I hope my Republican colleagues start listening to the majority of Americans who want bold climate action and stop taking orders from the former president’s favorite industry billionaire friends.”

During the 117th Congress, Natural Resources Democrats secured billions of dollars of investments in climate and clean energy. Committee Democrats’ new microsite on these climate wins provides helpful information about these investments, the types of projects they are funding, and the major community and climate benefits of these projects. In addition, a new interactive map on Committee Democrats’ climate wins helps locate IRA and IIJA-funded projects by congressional district.
