Ranking Member Huffman Statement on Ruling Declaring Trump’s Attacks on Clean Energy Illegal

Washington, D.C. –?Today, Ranking Member Jared Huffman (D-Calif.) released the following statement following the news that President Donald Trump’s executive order directing government agencies to halt approving new wind energy projects was ruled illegal by a U.S. District Court judge:

“The courts have officially ruled what we’ve known all along: Donald Trump’s war on clean energy is flat out illegal.

“Hardworking Americans are facing an affordability crisis, and Trump’s unhinged attacks on cheap, clean energy is only making matters worse. He is wiping out countless jobs, crushing affordable electricity, and letting true energy dominance slip through our fingers as China takes the lead on renewables.

“From day one of Trump 2.0, Democrats have been fighting for the American people and a clean energy future. The fight isn’t over, but the courts have sent a clear message – this lawless president can’t get away with killing affordable, job-creating clean energy just so he can tip the scales for his Big Oil billionaire buddies.”
