Chair Grijalva and Rep. McEachin Will Lead Thursday Press Conference to Unveil Discussion Draft of Their Collaborative Environmental Justice Bill
Washington, D.C. – Chair Raúl M. Grijalva (D-Ariz.) and Rep. A. Donald McEachin (D-Va.) will lead a press conference at 1:30 p.m. Eastern time on Thursday, Nov. 14, to unveil a discussion draft of their comprehensive environmental justice bill. The event, which will feature speakers from a broad array of supportive environmental justice groups, marks the latest step in a historic collaborative process that Grijalva and McEachin have used to craft the bill.
Grijalva and McEachin led an unprecedented convening of environmental justice practitioners, advocates, scientists and lawmakers on Capitol Hill on June 26. The discussion draft is the product of a months-long discussion with local experts, community advocates and neighborhood leaders who are traditionally not given a platform in Washington, as Politico recently reported.
The press conference will offer advocates involved in the Grijalva-McEachin process a chance to discuss the legislation’s importance to their communities and answer questions about how a final bill will be introduced and advanced with their support.
