MEDIA ADVISORY: Ranking Member Grijalva and Reps. González-Colón, Velázquez, Soto, Hoyer to Introduce Puerto Rico Status Act at Press Conference
Washington, D.C. – On Thursday, April 20, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. Eastern in House Studio A, House Natural Resources Committee Ranking Member Raúl M. Grijalva (D-Ariz.) will be joined by Resident Commissioner Jenniffer González-Colón (R-Puerto Rico), Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez (D-N.Y.), Rep. Darren Soto (D-Fla.), Rep. Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.), and Governor of Puerto Rico Pedro R. Pierluisi to re-introduce the Puerto Rico Status Act.
The Puerto Rico Status Act is a historic proposal representing an offer from Congress to the people of Puerto Rico to determine their own political future. The legislation, which was first introduced by Ranking Member Grijalva last year, previously passed the House on a bipartisan basis on Dec. 15, 2022.
